There are sooo many parts that go into an ecommerce shop. It’s a lot to keep track of and it’s usually best to have someone help you. Many of my clients have an e-commerce shop on WooCommerce, so I’ve dealt with this many times before. I know what ingredients are needed for the recipe and am able to get advise my clients on which directions to go.
Of the many parts of a Woocommerce shop, you have one of the main features – shipping! Shipping is how the product goes from you to the buyer. Woocommerce allows you to set up some complicated and specific rules to make sure you’re offering the correct options at the correct prices.
And, of course, there’s many ways to extend the built-in functionality with plugins to get other shipping options or special rates. The new WooCommerce Services plugin has a lot of new features that make buying postage easy – you no longer need a separate service to do this for you.
Fix Woocommerce “There Are No Shipping Methods Available”
If you’re seeing the “There are no shipping options available. Please ensure that your address has been entered correctly, or contact us if you need any help.” message in the shipping selection area, this can mean several things:
You haven’t set up any shipping methods.
How to add/edit shipping options
Go to WooCommerce -> Settings -> Shipping (Tab)
This area of the settings can be confusing. To simplify it, “shipping zones”, like you see above, are the areas of the world you want to ship to. If you only ship to the USA, as pictured above will be ok. If you click on the United States option, you’ll be able to set up several different types of shipping. This is where you would actually set cost and type of shipping.
The address entered as the shipping address does not have any matching shipping zones.
The shipping options displayed to a customer depend on the shipping address they enter. If they enter an address that is not in one of your shipping zones, they will get the there are no shipping methods available message.
This can happen if you have United States set as a shipping zone but your customer is in Europe. If you have not set a shipping zone for Countries in Europe, there will be no shipping methods to show.
In this case, the customer may just have to take initiative and reach out to you to see if you ship to them. Otherwise, there’s the other “Locations not covered by your other zones” that should cover you in should this happen.
